據ESPN報導，灰狼在週五的選秀大會前選擇將2013年選秀狀元本內特（Anthony Bennett）掛牌出售。
身高207公分、體重111.1公斤的本內特，在2013年出乎意料地成為選秀狀英文英文元，本內特在騎士的新秀賽季一直飽受傷病困擾，其中最嚴重的是大學時內華達對拉斯維加斯比賽中受到的肩傷。去年夏天他被騎士交易到灰狼。
灰狼隊原本對本內特寄予厚望，本賽季出戰57場季賽、其中3場先發，平均出賽15.7分鐘有5.2分3.8籃板，雖然他取得了不錯的進步，但並沒有展現出過人的潛力，所以將他擺上貨架。
灰狼計畫在週五用狀元簽選進唐斯（Karl-Anthony Towns），打的是大前鋒位置，為此他們想將本內特交易出去，顯然是在為唐斯騰位置。
